mission
COPA provides affordable, flexible shared creative space, technology, and support so artists, arts organizations, educators, learners, and creative professionals have room to do what they do best — and take their work further. By bringing many kinds of creative work into one shared environment, COPA creates more opportunities to develop ideas and skills, share resources, collaborate, and connect with audiences and the broader community.
COPA
COPA develops and operates shared creative spaces that give people and organizations more opportunities to create, learn, work, perform, and connect. Today’s active proof of concept is helping shape the future COPA Arts Campus — a regional resource designed to serve Greater Dane County.
Friends of COPA
Friends of COPA builds charitable support that helps widen access to those opportunities. Through the Leckrone Arts Fund and other charitable efforts, it works alongside COPA to help more people and organizations participate while keeping each nonprofit focused on its own role.
goals
community
COPA is a shared place for the arts where people from across Greater Dane County can gather, belong, and be part of the region’s creative life — across generations, disciplines, and communities.
education
COPA gives artists, educators, organizations, and mentors the space and tools to teach, train, share skills, and create hands-on learning opportunities — from someone’s first experience in the arts to advanced creative and technical development.
collaboration
COPA makes it easier for artists and organizations to work alongside one another — sharing space, resources, expertise, and connections instead of each having to recreate them on their own.
engagement
COPA creates more ways for people to take part in the arts — as creators, learners, audiences, volunteers, supporters, or simply as members of the community.
benefits of the space
The value of shared creative space is simple: creative work can go further when the people behind it don’t have to build and manage every resource on their own. COPA gives artists, educators, organizations, learners, and creative professionals access to flexible space, technology, and support.
COPA’s active proof of concept is already showing how one shared environment can support rehearsal, learning, performance, exhibition, collaboration, and community connection. As COPA grows toward the future Arts Campus, that same approach can expand access and opportunity throughout Greater Dane County — with more ways to create, participate, and connect through the arts.
