ConneXart Artist Residency
A program of COPA Madison

About the Program

The ConneXart Residency, powered by COPA Madison, is a month-long artist residency that provides sponsored studio space, mentorship, and public engagement opportunities for local artists. Each residency month, two artists will work in a shared space at COPA, creating new work and engaging the community through open studios, talks, workshops, and a curated duo exhibition.

Why It Matters

Wisconsin ranks near the bottom nationally for arts funding, making it difficult for emerging artists in cities like Madison to access the space, support, and opportunities they need. Rising rent and limited early-career resources often push artists to leave or pause their creative practice.

The ConneXart Residency at COPA Madison helps change that. By providing sponsored studio space, mentorship, and opportunities to engage with the community, the residency gives artists a place to grow and invites the public into the creative process. It is about building a more vibrant and accessible arts community right here in Madison.
